Well it was only one day after more than 8 hours driving. A simple escape, a new view and a silenced phone is all we need.

Life is demanding. Technology, social, work and a constant bombardment of information, news and everything inbetween can throw us over the edge.

Don’t forget to take a moment to turn off your phone, walk in nature and hit the off switch.

Sustainability isn’t just living plastic free or buying vintage or otherwise. Sometimes it is taking a moment to simple see what’s in front of you, breathe fresh air and the simple company of a quiet conversation or without taking in the waves, the breeze or a misty day.

Appreciated a moment away last week. Already need another digital detox! 😂

What is SSG? I am often asked so here a small brea

It’s funny how life circles back.

I’ve had this scrap of hand printed silk from my final collection at fashion school laying around.

A ‘bohemian’ collection of natural fibres like silk, cotton and linen. Trying to be Sustainable before it was considered as a marketing tool. It was my value system even if I didn’t and still don’t always adhere to.

This same collection was selected and shown at L’Oréal Fashion Week in Toronto in 2006 as an emerging designer. The collection had its flaws but it was well merchandised and had a solid branding concept.

I remember after the show walking downtown Toronto as a small town girl thinking is this as good as it gets?

It was the beginning of my fashion career, since over a decade in the industry, quitting, travelling and now beginning to build Sustainable Surfer Girl business focused on independent artists, brands and business while still I try to be eco-conscious.

I look back at this print, which is not even a proper repeat, a stock image of my outfit from the show, that the model is drowning in and an A line skirt I wouldn’t wear…and finally a chubby faced young version of me nervous on stage with pride and appreciation.

And now, I find it crazy to be part of the 1st edition Essaouira Fashion Week as last minute chance. I love that I get to be involved to help create someone else’s beginning in their fashion career.

Check out @essaouirafashionweek for more details of its vision for fashion in Essaouira, Morocco & Africa. So grateful to be given the opportunity to be a part of it.

Another one from @taghazoutsurfexpo A few hours

Another one from @taghazoutsurfexpo

A few hours to visit the booths, meet & greet and connect with the surf community in Taghazout and Agadir region showcasing at the Surf Expo in 2026.

Would have love to have a proper chat with everyone there without a rush but managed to meet some of the minds and talents behind the brands and businesses we did meet.

A few to mention (please DM to add if missed!)

With only a few hours to get down to Taghazout, it was totally worth it to finally check out @taghazoutsurfexpo and I wish I had more time! Between all the activities, stands, events and amazing people, there wasn’t enough time to really capture it all. Such a pleasure to see new brands, emerging businesses, non profits and so much more! The support, free entertainment for the locals, tourists and youth is such an inspiring glimpse of the future in Morocco! A big bravo as they continue to shape and build the surf community in the Agadir region and all of Morocco.

Definitely need to stay the full event next year to fully enjoy and experience all it has to offer!

Surfing & kiting is a great way to relax, disconne

Surfing & kiting is a great way to relax, disconnect and reset. But everytime my horse loving friends come to Essaouira, I join them for a ride with @medi_fana and enjoy finding an out of water way to relax while still being active.

I love horses and riding but I know the power of them and my anxiety tends to stress the horse so I prefer to chill walks with a trot here and there. So I always enjoy going with Mehdi. He is kind, knowledgeable and relaxed. There’s no pressure to gallop or perform for Instagram, and I always feel safe knowing he has matched the best horse for my experience and gives clear instructions. He listens to what kind of riding experience I want and we have great chats while walking the beach. And he even still grabs a few great videos and photos so I don’t have to!

Highly recommend to reset outside of the water!

Letters from Morocco…

Some days the wind dies down, and no matter big your kite is, you still can’t seem to catch it.

You can be disappointed or you can enjoy the simple joy of sharing the sun and scenes that are in front of you.

Sharing a sunset moment with the team at Kite Maroc.
