I dropped by Rockaway Beach in Queens, New York yesterday to see what’s up.

While it is off season and the surf schools are closed up, I still got a chance to talk to some locals, shop a little, grab a coffee and some tasty snacks.

A shout to Dell @breakwatersurf and Tracy @rockawaybeachbakery - both super kind and welcoming local business owners and surfers, we chatted surf a bit and about Rockaway Beach.

Picked up a cozy @rhythm jacket from Breakwater and the Cheddar Dill scone from Tracy was a tasty treat I enjoyed on my ride back into the city.

Lately, I’ve been feeling a sense of fear overwhel

Lately, I’ve been feeling a sense of fear overwhelming me. I am living a life I created and designed. I love my life, the people in it, the opportunities before me and for the most part the work I do. But I feel an uncomfortable feeling creeping in strong. What was a soft whisper, fun ideas and exciting dreams have become loud panicking inducing stress. Overwhelming fear to let go of things that have been holding me back. But after some reflection I know the fear is justified, it is logical, it is calling me to be responsible…to survive.

But high achievers, they don’t lack fear. They face it. They do it anyways, they thrive on that intensity and maybe they fall on their face. But you still see those inspiring people who lose limbs and still outperform those with all their limbs.

It’s not fear that stops us, it’s the lack of courage.

The urge to say fuck it!

It’s comfortable in complacency and it’s safe. There’s a time to be in it. But the illusion of its stability and security is only one major life event away from disrupting everything. Maybe that’s the fear creeping in or maybe it’s realizing life passes fast and ignoring those soft whispers to loud calls will only lead to regretful tears later.

Taking a pause to listen to what those calls are saying, leaning into the fears to let them lead me where I need to go.

And reminding myself those moments I said fuck it and took the trip, drove across Canada, booked the flight all led to some of my greatest adventures of my life that gave me the friendships, romances and opportunities to grow.
