JUNE SWIMWEAR – Surfer Approved
Our mission
June Swimwear’s goal is to create the perfect bikini for the girl who craves salt in her hair, sand in her clothes, and truly genuine vacation memories.
Always handmade with lots of love in Quebec, Canada.
June Swimwear has been continuing to follow their goals since 2009, giving women stay put bikinis and one piece swimwear. Stylish, trendy but also classic and timeless. They offer support in so many ways beyond in garment structure. High quality fabrics and workmanship, designed and produced locally in Québec! They are sexy but functional. They are modest but fun. They offer a multifunctional look for the water lover who isn’t simply relaxing on the beach, although you can because they are super comfy too! This brand isn’t another wannabe surf lifestyle brand looking to make larger profits, in fact the opposite.
Surfer Brand Ambassadors & Women led
As mentioned, this brand is authentic and to its core represents the female surf community. But also represented by the female surf community. Surfer approved, with brand ambassadors like surfers and business owners Erika Drolet and Marie-Christine Amyot from Salty Souls or Pauli a surfer mom and more. Fait au Québec – Sustainable Swimwear
With June Swimwear’s atelier located in Rosemont quartier of Montreal, Quebec, June Swimwear not only designs within Québec but also the manufacturing and production takes place in Quebec. While there are very few exceptions to this, based on certain styles for justified reasons such as capacity or limitations in manufacturing, all swimsuits and tops are ‘fait au Québec”. Not only does this give the team closer supervision over the production and quality control but also reduces emissions on delivery to retailers and customers. Their online shop offers direct shipping from them to you but they also provide in person shopping or can be found in one of the many retailers located in Québec including local retailer Simons that also feature many local designers.

June Swimwear Collaborations
As the world demonstrates how much we need unity over division, savvy business owners understand the benefits of collaborating versus competing. June Swimwear focuses on strategic collaborations with sustainable and surfer brand businesses. Many female owned and led which is always inspiring in itself!

JUNE SWIMWEAR X Boutique Pop Up Verdun
While walking along Wellington Street one evening I noticed The June Swimwear decal on the storefront window and was pleasantly surprised. I love June Swimwear’s mission and branding, I love the one piece I bought at Simons with them, that was not only affordable but huge value for workmanship, quality and style. Which has last me a quite a few years without compromise to quality. Looks as great as the day I bought it! It had been awhile I had planned to write a blog article and this was my sign! I had previously written about another sustainable Quebec brand Ethically Warm featured at Pop Up Verdun Luv boutique. I love the investment on Wellington Street to incorporate and support local businesses and brands. So this collaboration is a no brainer! But don’t miss it, as tomorrow it the last day!

Head over to the boutique for some summer shopping and enter into their giveaway contest!

JUNE SWIMWEAR X Rhythm.
Rhythm. is an Australian surf lifestyle brand that June Swimwear also collaborates with and sells online within Québec. Not only cutting emissions on one time orders from direct sales but also allowing distribution to local shoppers avoiding those duties and custom fees. This Australian surf brand is inspired and driven to sell to coastal living creative thinkers and ocean lovers. While their products are not locally produced as they supply globally, the classic and quality styles are timeless for the unique community of surfers and those who embrace coastal living. ALOHA COLLECTION
As mentioned in a previous post, before I even discovered this collaboration I had raved about the Aloha Splash Proof bag being my now essential travel buddy. It only further proves why and how two awesome sustainable and cool brands would collaborate together. You can find a limited collection of Aloha’s bag on June Swimwear website as well as in the Pop Up Shop in Verdun. I was so excited I went on about it in front of someone working with the brand. We chatted about how great and innovated it was, offering fashion and function to a surf traveller’s lifestyle. You can order directly from Aloha Collection or save yourself the duties / customs and order from June Swimwear website. A collaboration I was super happy to discover when the customs/shipping cost deterred me from buying direct.

JUNE SWIMWEAR X SALTY SOULS
After seeing that June Swimwear was featured in the Verdun Boutique PopUp, the June Swimwear X Salty Souls Collar 5 à 7 started filling my Instagram news feed and stories. I saw it was a running evening with some local surfer girls and I was pumped of course. After training with Erika, I started to really get into running, even training last January for a semi marathon in Marrakech, which ultimately did not come to pass and since recovering from tearing my MCL & LCL kitesurfing, I only recently started to get back into running so I was pumped to see this evening to meet other like minded women for enjoyable social motivation.
The night started with a light 5K run, meeting at the boutique, and me not even knowing it was June’s founder Julie I was chatting with. The group of women were so laidback, down to earth and kind. I am always a bit shy in Quebec because of my French, as I was born in Ontario. Despite both my grandparents being born in Québec and my dad growing up in Montreal, I am the first fluent in my immediate family and my Aunt teaching in Québec and Ontario in French. However, my fluency is weak and I still struggle with slang in Québec thus feeling like an outsider. But these women welcomed me, more just curious my story as it was obvious I wasn’t a francophone, thus continuing the bilingual Montreal style conversation. Finishing our run with a cool down with Erika who was also promoting SaltyClub‘s upcoming Summer Challenge, which I highly recommend to connect online with like minded active women. Sign up now as the Challenge starts July 14th!
By the end of the evening as we laughed and shopped together, it was such a memorable and rewarding evening. All the ladies openly shared their vulnerabilities and frustrations as active women who surf and are landlocked or struggle to find adult friendships with fellow surfers. The evening reminded me we are not alone as female surfers and even the people we follow and admire on social media are human, kind and have the same struggles as us. It only re-confirmed how much I admire and appreciate brands like June and Salty for existing and empowering the surfer women in and out of the water!
You can also pick up Erika’s new book “Surf”* which is sold online their website or head over to the Pop Up to get yours! You can also find at other surf related businesses like KSF and more. I started reading this and it only reminded me the love I have for surfing, inspired me to continue to live my dream lifestyle and that it also means letting go the structures, society often places on us as women.
*Please note the book is written in French.
